Terms and Conditions

Written to be read. If a terms page cannot be understood by the person agreeing to it, it is not much of an agreement — so this one is in plain English, and anything genuinely important is in bold rather than buried.

What you are agreeing to

Who these terms are between

These terms are between you and Zippy Klean LLC, a Hawaiʻi limited liability company trading as Zippy Klean Auto Detailing, operating on the island of Hawaiʻi.

They apply when you book or receive any service from us. If something here does not match what we told you in person or in writing about your specific job, the specific agreement wins.

Services and quotes

Prices shown on this website are for vehicles in normal condition. Condition is the one thing we cannot assess from a phone call or a photograph, so every quote is confirmed after inspection and the confirmed number is the one that applies.

Where a price says “from”, that is the starting figure for a vehicle in good condition at that size. Where a service says quoted on inspection, there is no published price because the condition range is too wide for one to be meaningful.

Additional work we find during a job — heavy correction, vog or water-spot etching, oxidation, mould, corrosion — is quoted to you and approved by you before we do it. We do not discover work and bill you for it afterwards.

We will tell you before starting if we believe a result is not achievable. We would rather turn down a job than take money for something we do not think will work.

Booking, cancellation and rescheduling

Please give us as much notice as you can if you need to cancel or move an appointment. We hold time for your vehicle and a late cancellation usually means that slot goes unused.

Weather. We do not apply coatings in rain or onto a damp surface, and we will not rush a coating to keep a schedule. If conditions are wrong we will call you and reschedule. That is us protecting your result, not us being difficult.

Location. For mobile work we need somewhere to park with room to work around the vehicle. If the location turns out not to be workable — particularly for coatings, where wind-borne dust or salt spray is a real risk — we will tell you and offer the Kona shop instead.

Payment, prices and the cash discount

Every price we publish is the cash price. The card price is published beside it in grey on every figure on this site. Both are disclosed before you book and nothing is added at checkout; debit cards are charged the cash price.

This is a cash discount, not a card surcharge, and the difference matters. Nothing is ever added to your bill at checkout for paying by card — the price you were quoted is the price you pay. Card, debit, cash, check, Apple Pay and Google Pay are all accepted, and debit cards pay the same posted price as credit cards.

Hawaiʻi General Excise Tax is added at invoice and shown as its own line. We pass it on at the state-permitted maximum visible rate of 4.712% (4% state plus the 0.5% Hawaiʻi County surcharge). It is higher than 4.5% because GET is levied on gross receipts including the tax passed on. Prices on this site do not include it.

Travel fee. $50 applies past 20 miles outside the Kona district, and none if you drop off at our Kona shop near Magic Sands Beach Park. We give you the exact shop address when you book an appointment. We tell you the travel fee when you book, never on arrival. That fee is paid directly to the technician working your job.

Payment is due on completion unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.

Coating warranty

Permanent coating packages carry a written warranty registered with NanoPro® in your name. You receive the warranty document at handover, and the terms in that document govern — not anything summarised on this website.

In short: it covers loss of gloss, loss of hydrophobic performance and premature failure of the coating itself, it is transferable with the vehicle, and inspections are included.

The condition that matters. The warranty requires the vehicle to be washed on NanoPro’s recommended schedule to prevent contamination build-up. Automatic and drive-through washes void it — a tunnel wash drags grit across the paint under pressure. Hand wash only.

Our maintenance program handles one of those washes every month and inspects the coating each visit. It is not required, and it is the easiest way to keep the conditions satisfied.

We will walk you through the full warranty document, including what it excludes, when you sign it. We would rather have that conversation with the paperwork in front of you than bury it on a web page.

Vehicle condition and your belongings

Please remove personal belongings before we start. We are careful, but we cannot accept responsibility for cash, documents, electronics, jewellery, firearms or anything else of value left in the vehicle.

Tell us about existing damage, aftermarket paint or bodywork, wraps, previous coatings, loose or failing trim, and any cracked or chipped glass. These change what we can safely do, and finding out partway through helps nobody.

We are not responsible for pre-existing conditions we could not reasonably have identified, or for failures of components already compromised before we arrived — failing clear coat that lifts during correction, brittle UV-degraded trim that breaks on handling, or rust already working under paint.

We do not work on vehicles we believe are unsafe to work on.

Insurance and liability

We carry commercial general liability insurance and we will provide a certificate on request — routinely, for aircraft and marine work.

If we damage your vehicle, we fix it. Tell us immediately and before the vehicle leaves, if possible, so we can document and address it.

Our liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the service in question. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses — loss of use, loss of earnings, or similar.

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Aircraft and marine work

Aircraft. You supply soap and chemicals approved for your airframe per your maintenance manual and FAA guidance, and you arrange ramp or hangar access and escort. We do not touch pitot tubes, static ports, de-ice boots, windscreens with existing crazing, rotor blades, or any surface your maintenance manual restricts, without written sign-off from your A&P. Your A&P has the final word on any product that touches the airframe.

Marine. Per-foot pricing covers the whole hull up to the rub rail. Everything above the rub rail, including the deck, console, superstructure, interiors, canvas and non-skid, is quoted on inspection. We do not work on boats in the water — a coating needs a dry, stable surface and a cure window. Non-skid is never polished smooth, because that would make your deck unsafe.

Horse trailers. We do not coat floors or ramps — anything an animal stands on needs grip.

Our satisfaction guarantee

If you are not satisfied with work we have done, tell us and we will come back and put it right. That is what the guarantee means and we mean it plainly.

It covers the quality of our work. It does not cover outcomes we told you in advance were not achievable — pitted chrome, heat bluing on exhaust, scratches through the clear coat, deep etching, or trim that has already cracked. We raise those before taking your money precisely so this never becomes a dispute.

Gift certificates

Our gift certificates have no expiration date. Under Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes §481B-13(b), a gift certificate without an expiration date is valid in perpetuity, and that is how ours are issued.

They are transferable, redeemable against any service we offer, and any unused balance stays on the certificate. We do not apply dormancy fees or deduct value over time.

They are sold at the cash price and carry full face value against the card price of whatever is redeemed.

Maintenance program

The maintenance program is billed monthly with no contract and no cancellation fee. Cancel any time and billing stops at the end of that month.

It includes one visit per month. Unused visits do not roll over to the following month.

Members receive 25% off additional services booked during a visit.

This website

We work to keep prices and information current, and this site is generated from a single internal price file so that the figures here match what we quote. If something is wrong, tell us and we will fix it — and the price we quote and confirm for your job is the one that applies.

Customer reviews shown on this site are real Google reviews, reproduced word for word and attributed to the reviewer. We do not write, edit or buy reviews.

Photographs may be illustrative rather than of your specific vehicle or a job we performed.

Content on this site is ours. Please do not reproduce it commercially without asking.

Governing law and changes to these terms

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Hawaiʻi. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of the Third Circuit, County of Hawaiʻi.

Nothing here limits your rights under Hawaiʻi consumer protection law, including HRS Chapter 480.

We may update these terms. The version on this page at the time you book is the one that applies to that job, and the date below tells you when it last changed.

If any of this is unclear, ask us before you book. We would far rather explain something now than argue about it later.

Anything unclear?

Just ask us

We would rather explain something before you book than have it become a problem afterwards. Call or text and ask.
