We handle one of the two washes your coating needs

One visit a month, coating-safe chemistry, and the coating inspected every time. No contract. 25% off anything else you book during a visit. It exists because the thing that actually voids coating warranties is not product failure — it is neglect.

Monthly maintenance wash in progress on a vehicle
Visual proof

The difference is a year, not a day

Two identical trucks, same street, same salt air. One got looked after every month; the other got a great detail once and then nothing. After a year on this island they are not the same truck any more, and the gap only widens.

A truck a year after its last detail: flat hazy paint, salt film and water spots
One detail a year ago, then nothing
The same truck after a year of monthly maintenance, paint deep and reflective
Same truck, same year, looked after monthly
Tight water beads sheeting off a healthy ceramic coating on a car hood
Tight beads mean the protection is still doing its job
Careful two-bucket maintenance wash on a residential driveway
A careful wash every month beats a rescue every year
Every visit, every month

What is included

  • Coating-safe hand wash and dry — two-bucket, correct chemistry, no brushes
  • Wheels, wheel wells and tires
  • Door jambs and sills — where salt collects and nobody looks
  • Glass inside and out
  • Interior vacuum and wipe-down
  • Coating inspection — vog etching, water spotting, salt in seams, any area not behaving the way it should
  • 25% off any additional service booked during the visit
  • CARFAX® record kept current on coated vehicles

The inspection is the part people underrate. Caught early, vog etching and water spotting polish out. Left for a year, some of it needs paint. We are looking every single visit, and telling you what we find whether or not it leads to more work.

What it costs

Prices shown are cash prices. Pay by cash or check and that is what you pay. The card price is shown in grey beside every figure — slightly higher, because card processing costs us that. Nothing is added at checkout either way: both prices are on the page before you book.

Hawaii GET is added at invoice and shown as its own line, at the state maximum visible pass-on of 4.712% (4% state + 0.5% Hawaiʻi County surcharge). Prices on this page do not include it.

The honest reason this exists

Why monthly matters here specifically

A coated car still needs washing. The coating makes the washing work — it does not replace it. On this island there are three reasons that matters more than it does on the mainland.

Vog

Dilute battery acid, falling on your paint

The USGS describes vog as primarily sulfuric acid, and says its droplets have “the corrosive properties of dilute battery acid.” Kona sits on the wrong side for it — trade winds blow 80–95% of the time from May to September and carry it around the south point and straight up this coast, where the sea breezes hold it in place. It etches clear coat and glass.

Salt

It does not stop working when it dries

Marine salt is hygroscopic — it pulls moisture back out of the air every humid night, so a dried salt crystal on a panel is still an active corrosion cell days after you parked. That is why island cars rust in places mainland cars never do, and why rinsing matters more here than anywhere.

UV

The highest UV load in the country

Hawaiʻi runs a UV index around 7 in winter and 11+ in summer — extreme on the EPA scale, and the highest sustained load of any U.S. state. Not because the sun is closer, but because at 19°N it is nearly overhead, so its rays cross far less atmosphere than they do on the mainland. It breaks down clear coat, trim and interiors faster here. Full stop.

What this means for your warranty
  • NanoPro’s warranty assumes the vehicle is washed on their recommended schedule, specifically to prevent contamination build-up
  • That is the condition that actually gets warranties voided — not product failure, neglect
  • We handle one of those washes every month and inspect the coating while we are there
  • You handle the rest. We are not going to pretend a monthly visit is all a coated car needs on this island, because it is not

Want to do the others yourself without putting swirls in the paint? Ask at a visit and we will show you. No charge.

Suzanne PattersonMay 2025

Zippy Klean was recommended by the dealer in Honolulu for my new 2025 Porsche. I was VERY impressed by the rep who detailed the car at my house. He was extremely knowledgeable and you can't beat the convenience! They're my "go-to guys" now!

Mark LeightonMay 2021

The guys at Zippy Klean did a great job buffing the scratched up dull paint job on my old Prius and making it shine like new. Appreciate, the really professional, friendly and speedy service, which included dropping me by a coffee shop while I waited. Couldn't be happier with Steven's team. Thanks!

Maintenance program questions

How much is the maintenance program?

It is $225 a month for a sedan or coupe, $262 for a crossover, pickup or small SUV, $300 for a full-size truck, van or large SUV, and $525 for tour and commercial vans.

One visit a month, billed monthly, cancel any time. There is no contract and no cancellation fee.

Members also get 25% off any additional service booked during a visit — paint correction, water spot removal, interior work, anything on the price list.

Why do I need this if my car is ceramic coated?

Because a coating makes washing work; it does not replace washing. NanoPro’s warranty assumes the vehicle is washed on their recommended schedule, specifically to stop contamination building up.

That is the single condition that actually gets warranties voided. Not product failure — neglect. Vog fallout, salt and road film build up on any surface, coated or not. On a coated surface they come off easily, which is exactly why it is worth doing regularly.

On this program we take one of those washes off your hands every month, with coating-safe chemistry, and we inspect the coating while we are there.

What happens on each visit?

A coating-safe hand wash and dry, wheels, wheel wells and tires, door jambs and sills, glass inside and out, an interior vacuum and wipe-down, and a coating inspection.

The inspection is the part people underrate. We are looking for vog etching starting, water spotting, salt residue in seams and any area where the coating is not behaving the way it should. Caught early, all of that is removable. Left for a year, some of it is not.

If we find something that needs more than a wash, we tell you what it is and what it costs. Members get 25% off whatever that turns out to be.

Is there a contract?

No. It is month to month, and you can cancel any time without a fee.

We would rather keep you because the service is worth it than because you signed something.

What about the other wash?

You handle it. NanoPro recommends washing more often than monthly, so the honest framing is that we cover one of them and you cover the rest.

We will not tell you a monthly visit is all a coated car needs on this island, because it is not. What we can tell you is that the one we do is done correctly, with the right chemistry, and that we are looking at the coating every time.

If you want to do the others at home, ask us at a visit and we will show you how to do it without putting swirls in the paint. No charge for that.

Do I have to be coated to join?

No. Any vehicle can join — but the program is built around coating care, so it is worth most to a coated vehicle.

On an uncoated vehicle it is still a monthly maintenance wash with an inspection, done properly, at 25% off anything else. That is a reasonable thing to buy.

On a coated vehicle it also keeps the warranty conditions satisfied, which is a different kind of value.

Does the annual inspection cost extra?

No. Coating inspections are included in every visit, and the annual review is part of the program.

We want eyes on the vehicle once a year regardless of whether anything is wrong, because catching a problem while it is still polish-able is the difference between a small job and paint.
