Real protection at a detail price

A professional-grade ceramic-infused sealant applied over a full decontamination. Six to twelve months of island protection, no warranty, no commitment — the sensible middle between a wax that lasts a month and a coating that lasts a decade.

What the sealant actually changes

Two things carry this product: water stops clinging, and the surface stops holding onto what lands on it. Both are visible.

Before: water lying flat on unsealed paint in a dirty film
Before — water lies flat and leaves the dirt behind
After: the same panel sealed, water in tight beads
After — water beads up and carries the dirt off
Clay bar lifting embedded contamination out of the clear coat
Decontamination first — it bonds to bare paint, not to grime

Between a wax and a coating

Three different products, three different jobs. Nobody should sell you one while describing another.

  • Hand wax — four to eight weeks. Looks great, protects briefly, costs little. On this island it is gone before you notice it went.
  • Ceramic Infused Super Protection — six to twelve months here. A real sacrificial barrier against vog, salt and UV, applied over full decontamination. No warranty: it is a consumable you reapply.
  • Stealth Diamond Borograph — permanent, 10+ years, written warranty, CARFAX registered. One application, never repeated.

The arithmetic, honestly. If you are keeping the vehicle more than about three years on this island, Borograph costs less than reapplying this. If you are not, this is the right money. We will tell you which side of that line you are on rather than selling you up.

What it goes on

Not just paint

Paint — all panels Glass & windshield Wheels Chrome & brightwork Gelcoat — boats Aluminum — trailers
What happens before it goes on
  • Full hand wash, two-bucket
  • Chemical decontamination — iron fallout and industrial particles
  • Clay bar — whatever is bonded and will not wash off
  • Tar, sap and bug removal
  • Surface prep wipe-down — it will not bond to residue

This is why it is sold as an add-on to a detail rather than to a wash. The preparation is most of the job, and most of the result.

What it costs

Prices shown are cash prices. Pay by cash or check and that is what you pay. The card price is shown in grey beside every figure — slightly higher, because card processing costs us that. Nothing is added at checkout either way: both prices are on the page before you book.

Hawaii GET is added at invoice and shown as its own line, at the state maximum visible pass-on of 4.712% (4% state + 0.5% Hawaiʻi County surcharge). Prices on this page do not include it.

An add-on price. It goes on top of the detail it accompanies, because the detail is what makes it bond.

Super Protection questions

How much does Ceramic Infused Super Protection cost on the Big Island?

Ceramic Infused Super Protection is $100 added to any exterior or full detail on a car, truck, SUV or van, and $12 per foot on boats and horse trailers — or $100 and $12 per foot if you pay cash or by check.

It is an add-on price, not a standalone one. The detail underneath it is what makes it bond, so the figure above sits on top of the deluxe detail or exterior detail it goes with.

Motorcycles are $75.

How long does Ceramic Infused Super Protection last in Hawaii?

Six to twelve months on the Big Island — shorter than the twelve to eighteen months the same product gives on the mainland, because vog, marine salt and the country’s highest UV load all work on it at once.

We would rather tell you the island number than quote you the brochure number. A sealant is a sacrificial layer, and here it gets sacrificed faster. A garaged car on the dry side, washed properly, holds the top of that range. A car parked outside in Kona under regular vog, or anywhere the salt spray reaches, lands at the bottom.

When it wears out, nothing peels or flakes. Water stops beading the way it did and the paint starts feeling slightly grabby to a clean hand instead of slick. That is the signal to put another layer on.

What is the difference between this and Stealth Diamond Borograph?

Ceramic Infused Super Protection is a sealant that wears off and gets reapplied, while Stealth Diamond Borograph is a permanent coating with 10+ years of protection and a lifetime warranty — a different product class, not a weaker version of the same thing.

Super Protection carries no warranty. It is a consumable: you buy it, it works for six to twelve months, and then you buy it again. Borograph is a one-time installation registered to your VIN with CARFAX® and backed for as long as you own the vehicle under its care terms.

Which one is right depends on how long you are keeping the vehicle. On a lease you are handing back in two years, Super Protection is the sensible money. On a truck you intend to own for a decade on this island, paying once for Borograph costs less than reapplying a sealant twelve or fifteen times.

Why does it require decontamination and a clay bar?

Ceramic Infused Super Protection bonds to bare paint — anything still embedded in the clear coat sits under the coating and stops it keying properly.

Brake dust, rail dust, tar, sap and industrial fallout are not sitting on your paint, they are lodged in it. A wash will not lift them. If they are still there when the coating goes down, you have sealed them in and the coating has nothing clean to grip.

On this island there is a fourth contaminant: dried salt in the paint’s microtexture. It is hygroscopic, so sealing over it traps something that keeps pulling moisture. Decontamination is what gets it out.

Will it protect against vog?

It helps, but less than a permanent coating — it is a sacrificial layer, so vog acid attacks the sealant instead of your clear coat, and it gets consumed doing that job.

That is the trade-off stated plainly. Super Protection genuinely does take the hit. It just has less to give than Borograph does, which is part of why its island life is six to twelve months rather than twelve to eighteen.

If vog is your main concern and you are keeping the vehicle, Borograph is the better value. If you want real protection at a detail-level price, this is it.

Can I apply it myself?

You can buy consumer sealants and apply them yourself, but you cannot buy this one, and the result depends far more on the preparation than on the product.

The honest version: a careful DIY sealant on properly decontaminated paint will outperform a professional product rushed onto a dirty car. The preparation is most of the job. What you are buying here is the decontamination, the clay bar, the controlled application, and a product grade not sold at retail.
